Whether your ideal volunteer opportunity is one week long or all summer long, we have a place for you! Your compassion and energy are greatly needed in host communities worldwide. Our year-round service program schedule enables you to choose back-to-back service programs in some communities and extend your service beyond the standard term (one, two or three weeks). Many student volunteers and families choose this option during spring break, summer vacation and J-term, while professionals and retirees enjoy teams scheduled during the quieter late spring and fall months.

You may add one, two or more weeks for an additional fee of $400 per week ($200 in India and $300 for USA) to a standard Global Volunteers service program itinerary in many countries throughout the year. Your volunteer coordinator can identify available extended-service periods. During your extended term, you continue the work project under the direction of the host organization, and following the same or similar daily work schedule. Your team leader is available for routine check-ins and any special circumstances.

Your extension fee is tax-deductible, and covers your meals and lodging in the host community as designated by the team leader. Your lodging and meals will remain the same following the standard service program, however, you may be asked to move to a single room, and alter your meal schedule to accommodate your work schedule. Your team leader will discuss any necessary changes well before your extended term begins.
